Invokation Ov Nuit

I came across this free download by Gothick, a British band heavily influenced by Coil, Psychic TV and Thelema :

http://www.archive.org/details/AMR142

Invokation Ov Nuit is the result of a communion with the Goddess of the first chapter of Liber Legis. It ranges from the haunting evokation of Aleister's Amazing Library, to the upbeat Templar Road. It is a series of visionary experiences encapsulated in sound and preserved as heirlooms for the future.

Hope you enjoy the album as much as I did!

Hauntology

What do you guys all think of this new "hauntology" scene?

I mean Ghostbox acts like Belbury Poly and Advisory Circle, Mordant Music, Moon Wiring Club etc?

http://www.ghostbox.co.uk/ , http://www.blankworkshop.co.uk/page6.htm ,
http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/arthur/44/an-invitation-to-the-electric-seance

At first I thought it was a bit facile (all the Tangerine Dreamy synths and lite-breakbeats) but I have to admit that over the last few weeks they've grown on me. The Belbury Poly album and ep are stunningly beautiful and melodic. Moon Wiring Club has some great tracks once you immerse yourself in them.

And for me they create a real atmosphere. It's not quite the same as the "Hidden Reverse" bands - but it still mixes the esoteric, magickal, english folk and experimental electronica. And they have the thing that really hooks me with Current 93, that grand myth-making from a completely eclectic mixture of arcane and personal, popular and sublime.

The Threshold Houseboys Choir - Form Grows Rampant

I was listening to this recently and was wondering what others thought
of it? It's definitely different than past Coil material. But I guess that was
Peters point? I love the vocal treatments and the dvd is pretty interesting.
In fact I find it hard to listen to the disc without the visuals. Anyway......
any thoughts...comments...objections....?

New Tribe: Personality Theatre

With the moderator's permission I'd like to introduce a new tribe, entitled Personality Theatre.

Description:

"We constantly produce a display, a theatrical scene. For each situation we create the appropriate backdrop and the appropriate lighting. We also have the appropriate actors, mainly ourselves, who appear on the stage. We carry on this kind of play, this theatrical game, so to speak, to feel out the total effect our stage set is having."
-Chogyam Trungpa

A place for the discussion of illusion, delusion, spiritual materialism, creation of personality, destruction and transformation of personality, magic, magick, funhouses, tricksters, labyrinths and carnivals of all sorts...mostly in relation to the growth and evolution of our inner and outer selves.

Essentially, a place to wonder about the masquerade of daily living...for the play we put on for ourselves and others.
(Wasn't that a wonderfully theatrical summation?)

2 COIL albums are being remastered & "properly" re-released with NEW tracks added to each album!

Excellent news for all you COIL fans out there!
Last week Sleazy told me that Danny Hyde(former Coil member/producer) is with him now in Bangkok and together they plan on remastering COIL's "Black Antlers" and giving it a DELUXE "proper" release with new tracks added to it!

And he also plans on re-releasing a "proper" version of COIL's "Remote Viewer", which will also include a new "remix" of "Remote Viewer" that Sleazy has just finished.

He did say that "Remote Viewer" should be released in about a month.
No release date was given yet for "Black Antlers", as they are still working on the "new" tracks.

I for one, am VERY excited & am anxiously looking forward to these 2 albums being re-released.
Because IMO they are BOTH sweet albums, but somwhat under-rated. So NOW, they will finally have a proper release with NEW/REMIXED tracks added as well!

Great shows. Stellar lineup. Amazing music. Swell people... (if you
were there, I don't have to tell you)

Colin said the shows were audio-recorded but gave no indication as to
possible release (let's all hope a live double-CD of both performances
sees official release soon, I'd line up to buy a copy)

Photos of both concerts are up now at my Flickr page here:
It's pretty light on info. Anyone have anything to say
about this release?

THE FIRST 13 COPIES OF COIL'S "THE APE OF NAPLES" SPECIAL EDITION LP BOX SET ALL SOLD FOR 999 POUNDS EACH! ...Plus ANOTHER 90 pounds for shipping!

Yes, it's TRUE!
Sleaz told me that while the Ape of Naples box set edition is SUPPOSED to be lim. to 23 sets.
ONLY 13 have been made and were already sold to long-time Coil collectors for about $2000 US dollars.

Sleaz also said that Ian Johnstone(who made the delightfully beautiful box sets) is "taking a break" from making them...
and he HOPEFULLY will make the last 10 later in the year.

SO, for anyone with $2000 to blow.... keep your fingers crossed!

I am doing an interview with Sleazy (ongoing) over the next couple of months or so, as we BOTH are very busy ( about Coil, Geff/Jhon's tragic death, TG, his NEW band mostly, etc, etc.)
Once it is completed, it will be posted on his website, & I will most likey post it here as well, in the near future...

SO, if ANYONE has any interesting questions that you would like me to ask him, please email me (Grant) at: tripreset@hotmail.com

OR, post them here, though I would PREFER that you send them to me directly!

THANKS!

Grant(yenpoxboy)

PS...I am ALSO doing one with Ossian Brown & Steven Thrower(of Coil & Cyclobe), but NOT until around August or so( they want to wait until their new Cyclobe album is done, as they have just begun recording it)....

AND I am ALSO currently doing one(a "tag-team" interview with a friend) with Thighpaulsandra ( of Coil, Spiritualized, and his own solo recordings)

SO, the same goes for those other 2 interviews as well( if you have any questions you are curious about, etc.)
Cheers!

C-93's "How he Love the Moon(moon songs for Jhon Balance)" is defective/slight glitch on disc 2??

I have noticed, and being a musician, I can tell when something SHOULD be there or NOT.....
well, listen CLOSELY(as it IS pretty subtle) to the LAST minute and a half of the FIRST song on DISC 2....( as there are only 4 songs total, 2 on each disc)

you will hear(if your disc is ALSO defective, like mine) that "chh, chh, chh"... slight "crunchy" noise (that gets accidentally put into the master recording when there is a problem with the mixing)
so, anyway, it is the EXACT same "chh chh chh" sound I have heard on EVERY( about 6-7) cd's that were defective that I have owned over the last 15-20 yrs or so...

I even heard another cd with the SAME very subtle "chh chh" sound on a MUSIMGAUZE cd about 3 yrs ago( and Muslimgauxze is ALREADY pretty noisey/crunchy)....well they ALSO told me "it's suppossed to be there" .....

well guess what, a few months later they DID repress the Mulsimgauze cd withOUT the defect!

I told Chris Macbeth(as we talk sometimes on the phone) of Beta-Lactum(who put out the C-93 2xcd)....and he says it is SUPPOSED to be there.
ITS NOT, TRUST ME!!( unless his disc is NOT defective)

so PLEASE listen to your copy CLOSELY.....
AGAIN it is on DISC 2, the FIRST track( the last minute and a half of the 1st track)...and yes, it IS only a minute or so, but it is STILL annoying!

and PLEASE let me know if any of you have a defective disc ALSO! ( I am SURE you will, as I DOUBT that it is JUST my copy)..

Thanks, I appreciate it...

looking FWD to your posts, if enough people DO complain, it WILL get repressed, as Tibet is REALLY fussy about that kind of thing!

Going Up!...

So I read the liner notes to 'The Ape Of Naples', and found that the words to the last song on the album are actually the theme song of a long-running British TV sitcom called 'Are You Being Served?' - Those who have listened to the song will have noted the irony of the words, which are obviously the litany of an elevator operator in a department store reciting off the departments on each floor as the 'lift' ascends, while the music supplied by Coil and the operatic soprano of the male singer Francois Testory suggest the soul ascending to heaven - Knowing the source of the lyrics only adds to the irony...

A quick search of the web located both the lyrics http://home.hiwaay.net/~emilyj/theme.html and an MP3 of the original theme song of the programme (which aired from 1972-1983) - Link to the MP3 follows the lyrics below...

Ground floor perfumery,
stationery and leather goods,
wigs and haberdashery
kitchenware and food...going up

First floor telephones,
gents ready-made suits,
shirts, socks, ties, hats,
underwear and shoes...going up

Second floor carpets,
travel goods and bedding,
material, soft furnishings,
restaurant and teas...

http://home.hiwaay.net/~emilyj/audio/aybsthemerevised.mp3

(You can hear Sleazy quotes the trumpet riff in the original theme by playing it on a mournful synth at the beginning of 'Going Up')

Sleazy's NEW BAND!!!- "The Threshold Houseboys Choir"

I just received a package from Sleazy today, that I had been expecting, but he surprised me w/ a couple more items he had included that I was NOT expecting!

There were several different pics/postcards he gave me........and on 2 postcards the captions were the same( but the pictures were different of course) and both postcards said "THE THRESHOLD HOUSEBOYS CHOIR" and at the bottom it said "Bangkok 2006".......and on the back of one of the postcards he wrote "This is my new band!"

I emailed him(just a few hours ago, so I have not heard back from him yet) to ask him about it, for more info. on the new band, etc..............so I am pretty ecstatic that he will continue to make great musick!(not that I thought he would NOT continue creating musick)

anyway, has anyone else heard anything about his new band or have any info. about it??

I am new to this tribe!
Aloha all,
Long ago I got rid of all my albums and of course tapes too, in my transitions of moving about on this globe.
I had many years ago, Current 93's Pagan Easter - Ritual Music for the Spring Equinox
I would very much like to have it again but on CD.
Does anyone know where to find this?
It seems that Current 93 does not have a web site where they sell.

Any leads would be much appreciated.
Thanks
-Tristen

Today Brainwashed issued this report...

Ape Shall Never Kill Ape

The final studio album from Coil, The Ape of Naples has arrived at Threshold House and is being sold now. According to Threshold House, "Featuring songs recorded in final days of Jhonn's life, as well as material originally recorded at Trent Reznor's studio in New Orleans, and now substantially re-arranged by Peter Christopherson, this album is sure to be seen as the 'classic' Coil album of all time, and is not to be missed under any circumstances!"

Hello all. I am still new to this list. I will buy the list recomended album (Thunder Perfect Mind) once I have some discresionary monies to spend. In the mean time I am wondering if you might like to hear some music for the low, low price of a critique of said music?
I have one album printed and two waiting for mass ammounts of money to magicaly apear to print. A review of any/all albums would be greatly appreciated. Also I am curious how people would catigorize this music. Is it glitch, is it experimental...? Also only the disknextnext site is finished so please forgive the mess and try to focus on the music if you can. If thie site sucks though you can tell me about it as well.

It just occured to me that another band I like very much and sometimes compare with C93 etc. is The Cardiacs.

Their more recent stuff, particularly the spin-off projects has a spooky, folky angle. And I like their melody and craziness.

Anyone else here like them?

Twofold: question and question

Hello,
I just joined tribe, so please forgive if I neglect some sort of etiquette.

My first inquiry is to the nature of this group. I have heard some Coil and some other music mentioned here but I am unfamiliar with Current 93. My ex was/is really into Current 93 and in my opinion she has good taste (except for her choice in boyfriends when she chose me ;^) ).
Basically I am curious what type of music this group is focused around, to know if I am in the right place. (I was drawn here by an earlier posting about musicians in the bay area). Is it frowned upon to I mentioned music ranging from the driest glitch of Autechre to the wettest analog of the Fairfield Four, or is this group intended for all forms of musical discussion.

Lastly, I am curious where the majority of you are. I have just relocated to the bay area and I am looking for venues for experimental musicians to play: a casual but quality venue. Any will do really. I tend to favor glitch meets industrial but frequently the pieces have a melancholy bend.

Once again thank you for being patient with a Tribe newbie,
-thewade

HAVE PITY ON THEE DEAD!?.....ANUALY

Now the dreamer is still dreaming
The dreamer is still asleep
The dreamer is still asleep
The dreamer is somnambulising
The somnambulist in an ambulance
A somnambulist in an ambulance
A somnambulist in an ambulance
Somnambulist in an ambulance (repeated)
Somnambulist in an ambulist
Pissed a somnambulist, er
Pissed a somnambulist, er
Kissed a somnambulist in an ambulance, in an ambulance
I kissed a somnambulist in an ambulance, in an ambulance, ...
I kissed an ambulance
I kissed an ambulance, I pissed an ambulance
I killed an ambulance, I killed an ambulance
I killed an ambulance, I killed an ambulance
Then I killed my doctor
I said, "Physician, heal thyself:
You're in no position to heal thyself
You're no position to kill yourself"
The somnambulist in an ambulance
(repeated in various arrangements)
I kissed and killed an ambulance (repeated)
Somnambulist in an ambulance (repeated)

I, I, I, I ... (repeated)
I kissed and killed an ambulance (repeated)

Hush, may I ask you all for silence?
The dreamer is still asleep
May the goddess keep us from single visions
And beauty sleep

The dreamer is still asleep
The dreamer is still asleep
He's inventing landscapes in their magnetic fields
Working out a means of escape, he says
We'll cut across the crop circles

The seer says no
There's not much time left for these escape attempts
Look at it this way
In ten years' time
Who'll even remember? Who'll care?
Who'll even remember? Who'll care?
One dies like that, deep within it
Almost inside it
It's there for a reason

I'll cut out my old address
Attack the little book
To tear and cut the paper
To care and touch the paper

The beginning is also the end
Time defines it, time unwinds it
It will end
Like close friendships
Nothing could be further
We forget the space between people and places
Is empty
We forget, and don't notice the loss
And don't notice the loss (repeated)

Crossing into venerable degenerations
Such radiant pollution
The god with the silver hand surveys this vast,
Surveys these vast contaminations

In the heart of your heart
Your eye remains
Is the hurt you? Is the blister you call loveless?
Your whole life is a cold slow shock
Your whole life is a cold slow shock

??? time
Take a little time
To track the shabby shadow down
The pissy mists of history
Down the pissy mists of history
Take a little time
To track the shabby shadows down
The pissy mists of history

The dreamer is still dreaming
The dreamer is still dreaming

Hush; may I ask you all for silence?
The dreamer is still asleep
May I ask you all for silence?
The dreamer is still dreaming (repeated)
The dreamer is still asleep

If you didn't go to see them Friday and are waffling on whether to go to the Saturday show tonight, all I can say is GO BUY A TICKET AND SEE THEM!

It was a truly great performance: Tibet was in top form and the band was first-rate: Maja Elliot on piano, Baby Dee on accordian and harp, Ben Chasny on electric guitar and Simon Finn on acoustic guitar, John Contreras on cello, William Breeze (of Coil) on viola, and the longtime C93 vet Joolie Wood on violin, flute and recorder - The songs were mostly from Soft Black Stars and Sleep Has His House (none of the old scary Crowleyite stuff, of course) and many new songs which are all brilliant...

Don't miss thiis chance to see them on the west coast - Baby Dee and Simon Finn both played great opening sets but tonight it will be Six Organs of Admittance and Pantaleimon...

I am trying to sell my ticket for the Current 93 November 5th show in San Francisco. I am selling it for $30, I'll waive the service charge. Any takers?

I still want to see them, I just want to go to the Friday concert instead due to a scheduling conflict.

If anyone is interested, please send me a message. I would greatly appreciate it!

Call for musicians (SF Bay Area)

I do music of an 'experimental' or dark ambient nature *on my own*, but for a long time now I've been wanting to join or form a 'band' with the objective of developing original music that is more centered around song structures (with vocals and lyrics) and acoustic instruments (like Nature & Organisation, Current 93, Dead Can Dance) - So far I've yet to meet the right people to collaborate with...

Are there any musicians, vocalists, songwriters out there in the SF Bay Area (since that's where I live) who would be interested in collaborating on something like this? If so please send me a message (or you may also post notice of your interest here, bearing in mind that I am primarily interested in actually making, recording & performing music as opposed to chatting about it)...

Hoping to hear from some of you...

* check out my solo project at http://www.formsofthingsunknown.com

I had somehow managed to get invited to a recording session for a new Nurse With Wound album - Steven Stapleton and David Michael late Tibet were the only recognizable faces there, mostly there were young twenty-something slacker types, including a sort of Harpo Marx blond fellow - We were all in a dark little wood-panelled room, laying about - I was standing and at my feet was a barechested rawboned kinda guy with thick wavy dirty blond hair (Gerard Malanga kinda hair),lying face up on the hardwood floor and sort of lolling about with a cute blonde punky girl - For some reason I felt compelled to reach up and grab a lock of my hair and cut it off with some scissors which had somehow appeared in my hand - When I cut off the lock with some trepidation I saw that it was the hair of the guy at my feet - I had the sense I wanted to be him (probably because he was with that cute young skinny girl) - The scene shifted to an old movie theater, and we were all there to see the premiere of this new film by Stapleton, part of which was a document of the recording session - There was a silverhaired MC in a business suit standing behind a mic to introduce the cast, who were sitting casually along the edge of the stage, as sloppily attired as they all were at the recording session - There weren't many people in the audience - When the film started, the first scene reminded me of the scene in A Clockwork Orange where Alex is strapped into the chair with his eyelids held open by clamp devices as he's forced to watch violent films - But the present scene depicted a young man (one of the slacker session musicians) looking face up out of a rough medieval-looking wooden square frame (made from 4" X 4" beams apparently) - His body was secured beneath the frame, which had an old wheel (like a wagon wheel) on each side of his head - The wheels turned, and there was a string running horizontally across the frame from which were dangling two oxidized 4" long iron carpenter nails - The turning of the wheels caused the nails to skitter and jerk somehow, with the nail points tapping lightly against the outer corners of both of the victim's eyes - While the nails were not actually poking or piercing his eyes, it looked like a fairly traumatic endeavor, which was borne out by the bug-eyed expression of panic on his face - The movie may have gone on a bit longer, but the next part I remember I was about to leave the studio, and was looking on some wooden shelves at some brandnew CDs which Steven and David had just finished custom packaging in these beautiful covers with signatures and inserts (the covers of most of them were glossy black, except for a more limited edition CD that was off-white, and all were produced on the type of Independent Editions or whatever it was called cardstock that Savage Republic used to use for their releases, with similar screen printing) - I decided to purchase both, and as I went to do so Stapleton hobbled past me on the arm of an older gentleman - I asked him, 'Did you hurt yourself?', sincerely concerned, and he replied, 'Yes, I fell' - I saw him again later and he was limping without a cane or assistance and he said yes when I asked him if it was just a sprained ankle - My memory of the dream or dreams gets hazy here, but I recall being out on a schoolyard or playing field and running into Stapleton again, and he accompanied me to show me where he kept his cigars (I had inquired, as he was smoking one) - There was an alcove near the building with shelves of many cigars, which he told me were mostly rather old and not very good, though he pointed out the ones that were still smokeable - I ended up getting one and later going back for two more - The end of the dream found me in the bathtub with shower curtain of a flat, taking a shower, looking for the right showerhead which someone had thoughtlessly removed, while outside in the flat and bathroom (apparently there were no walls separating the bathroom from the rest of the flat) laborers noisily ambled about, along with other houseguests (including that cute blonde punk chick) - Pulling aside the curtain alongside the wall, I glanced out the window of the flat...

I don't have the Fire of the Mind CD that came with it though. Anyone interested?

Alex From Einstürzende Neubauten to Release Solo Cd Next Month!!

http://www.koolarrow.com

Koolarrow Records proudly announces it's next release, "Sanctuary", EN founding member Alexander Hacke's solo CD, joined by members of The Jesus Lizard, The Germs, Swans among others, for a worldwide release date of May 17, 2005.

"Sanctuary" is the lovechild of his creative affair with some of the most disturbingly fertile minds in the music scene. Inherent in the album's conceptual framework is his postulate that location has an enormous impact on perception; to illustrate this point, Hacke has traveled the globe for the past two years. Armed with knapsack's worth of recording gear,he captured pieces of audio from a variety of musicians in different situations. These sonic "keepsakes" were then filtered, distorted, processed, and re-assembled back home in Berlin in order to build his "sanctuary", and ultimately the 11 tracks that make this CD.

But there is a visual element to this theme as well: accompanying the cd there is also a 16 panel booklet, each panel a photo of the souvenirs he collected in the making of each track. Lastly, the enhanced cd also contains video footage shot during the making of the album, along with interviews with the contributing musicians.

PARTICIPATING MUSICIANS:

crumb duck and simple headphone mind

Hello, all ...

I had the pleasure of snarfing the 1996 collaboration between Stereolab and NWW, entitled "Crumb Duck" this past weekend. I've only listened to part of it so far, and was happy to hear alternate versions of some of my favorite Stereolab pieces (namely, stuff from their "Transient Random Noise Bursts With Announcements" CD). I plan on listening to more of it soon.

However, as hard as i've looked, i've not found the other collaboration they did together, "Simple Headphone Mind". I've heard this once -- an experimental DJ in Cleveland, Ohio, USA played it at an experimental club called Speak In Tongues once when I was there, and I kept pestering him to tell me who this was until he finally relented and told me. He did say it was very rare, though ...

Has anyone else heard this, or knows where to get it?

Regards,

John
*****Don't forget to set your clocks ahead on this day*******

A note about this show:
While last year's San Francisco show presented a special
intimate side of Death in June, this year's show promises to be
more powerful and intense. With full percussion (we're talking BIG
drums!) and the San Francisco premiere of the band Luftwaffe,
expect a terrific show!

DEATH IN JUNE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
www.deathinjune.net
This highly influential band is one of the forefathers of the dark
neo-folk genre. Throughout their 24 years of creative output Death
In June have succeeded in always presenting music infused with a
unique passion, poetry, and longing. With dreamily intense albums
wrapped in runic and age old symbols, Death In June continue to
mystify and exhilarate the listener with their ambiguity.

LUFTWAFFE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
www.kalkisarmy.com/
The Chicago-based act Luftwaffe presents an powerful soundscape
of ambient/industrial/militant music with a firm ideological basis
grounded in a philosophical trend named Solipsism. A strong
emphasis is placed on acoustic guitars, drums, and sampling.
Heavily steeped in references to political and spiritual revolution,
the music never leaves you disinterested.
15 Degrees Below Zero's sound ranges from subdued, drifting
ambiance featuring skewed, conventional instrumentation and
tatters of rhythm to more insistent, grittier electronic flourishes.

HaWthorn
----------------------------------------------------------------------
HaWthorn released their first two CDs under the name Howden/Wakeford.
The new name came about as a result of realising that howden/Wakeford
was a terrible name for a band. Despite this, the first two Cds, 3-9,
and Wormwood were received well by audiences and reviewers alike. The
third CD, The Murky Brine, is now out.

Review of Wormwood, Black Magazine, Germany:
Words fail me! ... the CD is a cracker! ... This CD doesn't want to
come out of the CD player and pulls one into a spell from the first
until the last track. One sits in front of the stereo as if possessed,
and sucks each sound greedily out of 'Wormwood' ... Really great! 10
out of 10 possible points. (MM)

Sieben
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sieben is the one-man show of Matt Howden, lyricist and violinist. The
songs are made live, without use of backing tapes. The violin is
played and looped, layer upon layer, and then Matt sings and plays
over the top.

"But his violin... Howden caressed his strings with the bow, struck
it, scratched it, and was taken by a demonic frenzy... A delicious
surprise and, for me, one of the great moments of the festival...
Magnificent."

Hugh Davies R.I.P.

Hugh Davies 1943 - 2005

"Sad news: Hugh Davies died on the 1st January, 2005. Born in 1943,
Hugh was a pioneer of live electronic music, an inventor of musical
instruments, a composer, educator, and renowned researcher into the
history of electronic music. An assistant to Karlheinz Stockhausen
from 1964 to 1966, he participated in the recording of Stockhausen's
Mikrophonie I in 1965. Other recordings included wonderful LPs by
Music Improvisation Company and Gentle Fire, and his solo albums for
FMP and Grob. Anybody involved in live electronics, electronic
improvisation, hardware hacking, or, come to that, anybody who needs a
table in order to be able to perform, owes a debt to Hugh. He will be
sadly missed."

C93/NWW to perform in SF

I just signed on to this tribe tonight, don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but...

DURTRO recently announced that Current 93 AND Nurse With Wound will be playing two nights on the US West Coast early next year - This will be the first live manifestation of NWW in over twenty years

According to one source, the concerts are tentatively booked for two nights in January at the Great American Music Hall where C93 played last year

There will probably be a confirmation of the dates and venue on the next Durtro newsletter...

Jhon Balance, RIP

"We are greatly saddened to have to you that at about 5.30 pm Saturday Nov 13th, Jhonn Balance, was killed in an accident at home.

Under the influence of alcohol he fell from the first floor landing, hitting his head on the floor some 15ft below.

Peter/Sleazy who was in the front room heard the noise, came out investigate and found him unconscious, though still breathing.

Balance was rushed to hospital, where his condition deteriorated, and he died soon after, without ever regaining consciousness.

There is no suggestion that this event was in any way deliberate, in fact, anything other than a tragic accident.

Unusually, Balance had been cheerfull during the day, and was looking forward to seeing Ian at the weekend, and working on new recordings this week.

* * *

Our awareness that physical death is not an end, but mearly a transition to a whole different part of existence, a new adventure, should by now be clear to everyone.

Jhonn has simply crossed over the Threshold...

As Thomas Olson wrote this morning: "Listening to some Coil songs now, and they are all sounding to me now as if they were written for this moment...."

Nevertheless the parting will be hard for us all. Fortunately there is much to be done that will keep us busy in the next few difficult weeks.

When we have more details we will post them."
There is a wonderful Coil marathon everyone can listen to at

http://www.brainwashed.com/radio

They've played lots of great live stuff as well as demos and other rarities. You can also make requests I believe.

I'm off to see Psychic TV here in Chicago tonight. Wonder if anything will be said about Jhonn.

Coil Tribute band...anyone interested?

Meow, I'm very sad about John losing his balance.Being an artist of like mind, it makes me lose hope of the world keeping its balance(and myself).Relating so deeply to Coil through the years, hearing the dark, sardonic melancholia and resonating with the passion of the delivery...listening to Scatology,Astral Disaster and Black Light District today(feeling the self fulfilling prophecy weaving through the lyrics), I sang along and harmonized with passion, singing for John.My heart is very heavy now...and with this inspiration, I wish to form a tribute band, with my voice channeling his anima.I do believe Ure Thrall will wish to play guitar, so I wonder if there's anyone out there who has a nice keyboard that could pick up the songs easily, and a percussionist as well.My goal is to do a show for his Annideathery, next year.Power in its purest state.

favorite/least favorite C93?

I am always suprised to find out what C93 albums people like/don't like. What can posess someone to say that "Swastikas for Goddy" is their best? I just don't get it. This misunderstanding is made more difficult by the fact that I can't explain why *I* like the C93 I do. What are your hits and misses? Your loves and hates?

My favorite of my limited collection is "All the Pretty Little Horses." I'm also quite partial to "Island" and "Nature Unveiled." My least is most certainly "Swastikas for Goddy," and I've never liked "Imperium" much.

I posted this in deathrock and was treated to some John Cage-esque cricketsong.

I've been trying - for YEARS - to remember what band did this song, what the name of it is - anything. i want this thing.

I can hear it in my head perfectly:

"That chair's a fake. That chair's out of place. You've got things walkin' 'round that should be put away. Masturbator! Fornicator!"

Who did this? What's it called? Why can't I remember?

I picked up the limited edition hard cover of E.H.R. a while back and I have to say that it is worth every freaking penny.
It even comes with a cd! :} A great read and a wise investment for any fan of Tibet,Balance,or Stapelton

I sure love that NWW!!

I'm at work right now and just a bit bored, so I'm feelin this urge to just leave a post saying how much I really love this...uh..."group".
Nurse With Wound amazes me. That some of their shit is not only musical, but even danceable...yet other stuff has no resemblence whatsoever to actual music.
I have often found that when I'm depressed, I can cheer up by listening to that first piece on Automating 1...can't remember what it's called, but it has the fellow telling his mother he wants to be a registered nurse and then busts out laughing. Listening to that makes me laugh. I don't know why. Like I used to go to the fun house at Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver, and I didn't really want to go in...just sit outside because there was this mechanical replica of a big fat woman with a huge grin with one tooth missing, ala Alfred E. Neuman, and she stood with her arms open and laughed and laughed and her body heaved around back and forth, her head shaking about like a bobblehead, and I just loved sitting there watching her laughing and I would laugh too. My dad thought I was wierd.
Sorry for the digression.
My all time favorite is the Soliloquy for Lilith, and I got a story about that, if anyone wants to hear it. I also like most of Automating 2, particularly Strange Play of the Mouth and Human Human Human. I love stretching the muscles of a fellow being's body much more than trying to make it with a horse. With me, there is no remorse.
A Piece of the Sky is Missing is awesome awesome awesome!!! And so is Lumb's Sister...fuck, I just love so much by NWW...although, I could do without 150 Murderous Passions. Nice idea, a record that can be played at any speed, but I can't take much of that screeching.
I read an interview with Steven Stapleton, in which he described his project as "surrealist music". Now, I have a hard time thinking of it as anything else. That's a great description, and one that shows the difference between what NWW is doing and, say, Nocturnal Emissions or Hafler Trio.
Any thoughts? What's your favorite stuff by NWW?
